Getting SDI Right: What School Leaders Can Do to Support Academic Success of Students with Disabilities
Description
This highly interactive session will challenge school leaders to move beyond compliance-driven inclusion models and toward a culture of intentional, equitable design for students with disabilities. Participants will explore how Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) supports student success within Tier 1 and inclusive environments, regardless of exceptionality or staffing barriers.
Using real case studies and hands-on analysis, attendees will rotate through scenario stations where they will make decisions as school leaders, practice identifying barriers to access, and apply the SDI framework to strengthen support systems. The session will also highlight high-impact, low-lift strategies that administrators can implement immediately to support their teachers in delivering inclusive, equitable instruction
