This session will dive into the foundational principles of professionalism, compliance, and accountability in high school athletics. With increasing public attention and evolving FHSAA guidelines, there is a critical need for athletic leaders to uphold high standards across all levels of engagement. This session will cover: • Managing high-profile coaches and navigating public perception • Effective communication protocols: who speaks for the school and when • Conflict resolution within athletic staff • Understanding FHSAA policies: Legal vs. Illegal recruiting, impermissible benefits, and proper contact with prospective student-athletes • Introduction of a Professional Standards and Compliance Handbook • Sideline behavior, communication with officials, and leadership expectations Participants will leave with tools to lead ethically, avoid infractions, and foster a culture of trust and compliance in their athletic departments.
