Description

The course will cover the various factors that contribute to student absences, including family and community factors, as well as strategies to identify and address attendance barriers. The course " Stay in the Game! Partnership effects on student attendance" is designed to help educators and school administrators understand the importance of regular student attendance and the impact it has on academic success. The course will provide an overview of best practices for the Attendance Review Committee; the referral process; improving student attendance, parent and community involvement, and interventions for students at risk of chronic absenteeism. The participants will learn how to leverage community assets. They will also become familiar with external partners that are available to assist students and families. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with colleagues and share strategies for improving student attendance. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with practical tools and resources to help them effectively address attendance challenges and promote academic success for all students. Participants will walk away with a categorized directory of community agencies that will assist families.
