Maria E. Hernandez is an District Director with the Office of District Operations | Special Programs in the Miami-Dade County Public School�s (M-DCPS). During her tenure she oversaw the Children�s Courthouse Education Liaison Office. She is currently responsible for many tasks as it relates to student discipline, school-safety, Florida Model for Threat Management, District Family Reunification Team, Child Abuse Reporting, developing professional development for school employees, school administrators. Her career path within education has seen her assume multiple school-based and district-based roles, paraprofessional, teacher, teacher on special assignment, assistant principal, and district administrator.
Ms. Hernandez�s academic journey includes an associate degree in psychology from Miami Dade College, a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Early Childhood from Florida International University, and a master�s degree in teaching English to Students of Other Languages from the University of Miami, where she earned a fully paid scholarship. Continuing her educational pursuits, she completed courses for the accreditation in school administration at Nova Southeastern University. In addition, She also serves as a board member of the Miami-Dade Community Based Care Alliance and represents the Superintendent of Schools in the Dade Miami Criminal Justice Council. In her 36-year tenure with M-DCPS, Ms. Hernandez has tirelessly advocated and continues to advocate for students throughout the school District.
