Technology is expanding at an exponential rate and completely changing the educational landscape. Digital natives now integrate technology into every facet of their lives. We know that we must adopt these new paradigms to meet the demands of our learners. Florida Virtual School (FLVS) has been leading the way in kindergarten-12 online education for more than 25 years. FLVS provides a robust, award-winning curriculum to public, private, charter, and homeschool families and school districts nationwide. Founded in 1997, FLVS, the district, and its schools are accredited by Cognia and offer supportive online learning to students both in Florida and around the world. At Florida Virtual School (FLVS) we know that educational success means different things to different people; that's why our online classes are designed to meet a wide variety of needs. Through personalized instructional offerings, students can build an educational plan that fits their unique needs. They receive live instruction and 1:1 support from Florida-certified teachers who have completed extensive professional development in online education. For the past 15 years, FLVS has provided several options to students in Miami Dade. These options include FLEX, FULLTIME, HOMESCHOOL and the LAB program. This session will provide a clear understanding on the difference between each option along with various new and existing course offerings so that attendees will know which options best serve their individual student's needs. Further, we will explore the processes to implement each option. Working in partnership, FLVS mission is to continue to work with Miami Dade to provide a quality education that prepares all children for a successful future.
